Blackbuck case: Salman Khan to appear before Jodhpur court today
JODHPUR: Month after his bail in the blackbuck poaching case, Bollywoodâs superstar Salman Khan will appear in a Jodhpur court today.
As per details, Bollywoodâs dabang star was convicted and sentenced to five years in prison on April 6, 2018 for killing rare antelopes in 1998, he spent two nights in the Jodhpur Central Jail before being granted bail on April 7. At today´s hearing Khan´s lawyer will ask for the sentence to be formally suspended pending an appeal.
The incident happened during the shooting of âHum Saath Saath Hain’ in 1998. His co-stars Saif Ali Khan, Neelam, Tabu and Sonali Bendre were all acquitted in the two-decade-old case due to lack of evidence.
The actor has repeatedly rejected his involvement in any such crime of killing the endangered animals, saying he was framed in the case by Rajasthan´s forest department. While Khanâs lawyers claim the black bucks died of natural causes, insisting there was no evidence they were shot.
